within a short drive of our cabins to give you even more variety and entertainment
for your stay. Whether you are looking to explore the outdoors or get
a taste of local culture in the small towns surrounding our vacation rentals,
you can find a wealth of things to do close by in any season.
Area State Parks
We are neighbors to Starved Rock State Park, Matthiessen State Park, Buffalo
Rock State Park, and Illini State Park, which means you will find no shortage
of hiking, birdwatching, biking, and picnicking spots. If you are seeking
more outdoor adventures, you can book skydiving, zip lining, or off-roading
adventures (requires your own equipment) nearby. For a quiet afternoon
outdoors, you might visit a local orchard to pick fruit and savor the

Shops – If shopping is your preferred pastime, you might check out the abundance
of local shops, flea markets, and antique stores throughout Central Illinois.
These hidden gems can be the perfect places to find unique gifts, clothing,
or décor that is sure to start a conversation.
Historic landmarks and museums – You can get to know the rich history of the Midwest in the museums of the
region. In Ottawa you can find the Ottawa Scouting Museum, along with
a number of historic homes and landmarks in surrounding towns, including
the Reddick Mansion (Ottawa), Hegeler Carus Mansion (LaSalle) and Weber
House and Garden (Streator). There is also the I & M Canal boat tour
in the spring/summer months that will give you a history of how the canal
was built. All offer wonderful tours and activities for you to enjoy.
Wineries – There is an emerging wine culture in Central Illinois, which can be seen
at a handful of local wineries that offer tastings and tours for a perfect
